International Day of Light at Trento

Light is life and, as such, it shapes our lives and our history..

Five scientists from different fields of knowledge and civil society will discuss five topics connected with light.
Today, 16 May, sees the celebration in Trento of the second International Day of Light (#GiornataInternazionaledellaLuce), an event sponsored by UNESCO to raise public awareness of the fundamental contribution of light in different areas of our lives.
We at C-LED will be present at the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), where five scientists from different fields of knowledge and civil society will discuss the theme of light: our Alessandro Pasini is presenting the topic “Light and Horticulture”.
The programme for the day:

9:00 am -9:45 am – Glass, the Sphere and Light: from the lens to the microlaser
talk by Giancarlo C. Righini, physicist, who had conducted research in the field of integrated optics, fibre optics and their applications, particularly in medicine and sensors.

9:45 am -10:30 am – Light and Horticulture
talk by Alessandro Pasini, Managing Director of C-LED and LUCIFERO’S in the Cefla Group.

11:00 am -11:45 am – Light at the service of Medicine: optical biosensors
talk by Francesco Baldini  who is involved in the development of optical sensors for the measurement of chemical and biochemical parameters, mainly for clinical applications..

11:45 am -12:30 pm – Light – Research and Cultural Tradition
talk by Zeno Gaburro, Associated Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Trento.

12:30 am -1:15 pm – Light and Ontology: artificial vision and geometric method
talk by Emanuele Bottazzi from the ISTC-CNR Laboratory of Applied Ontology..
