Today, natural light is making a comeback: once the only light source, it’s now an essential part of design wherever people’s well-being is important.
The dynamism of natural light, which varies in intensity and colour throughout the day, is closely correlated with well-being and is, therefore, a central element of lighting design.
A design aimed at maintaining the individual’s circadian rhythm via intelligent lighting control forms the foundations of Human Centric Lighting (HCL): the right light improves not only cognitive performance but sharpens senses and eases emotions. It is this philosophy – with its focus on people and their need for light – that has inspired Dynamic White technology.
A paler, more sky-blue light in the morning, a cold light with a strong blue spectral (short wavelength) component in the middle of the day and then a warmer, gentler, relaxing white towards evening with a stronger red spectral (long wavelength) component: these variations follow the body’s natural circadian rhythm (or ‘body clock’), making us more alert during the day and ready to rest in the evening.
