Interlight, a high performance light for greenhouse plants
The Interlight C-LED lamp, developed with the invaluable scientific support of the University of Bologna, was chosen by the largest greenhouse in Italy to grow “cuore di bue” tomatoes. In the greenhouse, with a surface area of approximately 2 hectares, a lighting system was installed with 8850 LED lamps able to generate high amounts of photosynthetically active light, suitable for the production of tomatoes and vertical-growing greenhouse plants (Solanaceae and Cucurbitaceae).
Interlight lamps are an important technological lighting innovation to grow greenhouse plants throughout the year, especially during winter when there are fewer natural light hours and artificial lighting is required. This application ensures an increase in production yield given by, firstly, an increase in the number of flowers per plant and as a consequence, in the amount of harvested tomatoes. Top international scientific studies show that some of the colour components present in the light spectrum used in C-LED lamps result in higher resistance to diseases, less frequent leaf malformation and better overall plant morphology.
